Fats is not something that should be completely ignored, as it is needed for normal growth and development. Fats can be saturated and unsaturated; the unsaturated in encouraged for the health while the saturated is not.

Dietary fats work effectively in providing energy needed in the body, helps to protect the organs, and also supports the body in absorbing and processing nutrients. One interesting thing you have probably never thought of is that it helps to burn body fat!

Deep fried foods can be classified in the saturated fats category, which is not beneficial for the health as it adds to weight gain and affects the health.

You can take unsaturated fats like leafy vegetables, seeds, avocados, nuts, olive oil, and fish that will help to remove the bad cholesterol from your arteries and instead, raise the good cholesterol.

Carbohydrates, proteins, and fats are three macronutrients the body needs to generate energy, so if you lack fats in your body, there will be no energy to lose the extra calories you are willing to.

Fats aren’t so easy to digest, and this cause them to lurk around the stomach for a longer while. It keeps you full and saves you from running to the kitchen or the refrigerator continuously, in search of food.

Another important thing you should know is that fat builds muscle. Coupled with an effective exercise program, if you eat good fats on a daily basis, it will increase your muscle mass. This will help to boost your metabolism and burn calories.

Some nutrients in the body can’t be absorbed without fats, perfect examples are Vitamins A, D, E, and K, which are fat-soluble. The effectiveness of these nutrients in the body won’t be possible if you do not take in adequate fats.

Finally, fat makes you happy. Eat yummy foods with the assurance that you are not adding unnecessary fats. Good fats contain Omega 3 fatty acids that increases serotonin levels that works effectively to boost your mood and keep you alive all day.

The overall nutritional content of a meal should be considered before deciding if it is right or not. While you eat fats, be mindful of not eating more than you should or taking in the wrong nutrients.
