1. Fresh ginger root decoction
This tea aids in digestion and also help to calm inflammation in the digestive tract. Its pungent taste makes it easier to sip when having a meal and it is also an indicator of its purifying post-digestive effects.
Chop the ginger root and add a tablespoon of it into a cup of water, boil the water and simmer covered for about 25 minutes. Sip your ginger tea while hot. You can take it plainly or with honey or even with the addition of turmeric, for added anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial benefits.
2. Avoid processed foods and table salts
Too much of salt or sodium intake can cause water retention, which may lead to abdominal swelling. Processed and preserved foods also contain a high content of sodium chloride.
When sodium chloride enters the body, it binds with water and other minerals and demineralizes and dehydrates the body, leading to slow digestion. This can also worsen abdominal fat and expose you to certain health risks.
3. Abdominal massage
Abdominal massage have been shown to have energetic benefits, as it has the power to physically move gas through the intestines and give great relief.
To do this, lie flat on your back and begin on the right side of your abdomen. Massage your right side and continue up below your rib cage, down the left side and back around again. Use your fingers to make small circular motions and press them firmly against your body as you continue.
Ensure you don’t do this immediately after eating heavy, wait for about two hours before kicking off with it. Doing this regularly will increase blood flow to the abdomen and help to reduce constipation and detoxify the intestines.
