Getting impressive abs is something you can achieve with a mix of the right exercises and proper nutrition. The last thing you want is to spend hours doing crunches or other exercises and end up with very little to show for it simply because you are not matching your exercise efforts with the right diet.
In general, you want to eat foods that have a high protein content but there are a few foods in particular that are especially great for the development of well-defined abs.
1. Yogurt
This might sound like a bit of a contradiction given the fact that yogurt contains high amounts of fat which is something you generally want to avoid when you are trying to build strong, well-defined abs. However, yogurt is full of protein which is great for building lean muscle mass, and also contains healthy probiotics which can help to combat bloating and lead to a better looking stomach.
2. Eggs
Recently, eggs have acquired a bad rap for their relatively high cholesterol content. However, eggs are a rich source of protein, which is an essential nutrient for building lean muscle. Also, studies have shown that when people eat eggs in the morning, they tend to eat less unhealthy foods later in the day.
3. Soy
Soy is well-known within the fitness community for being a super-food. It is one of the best sources of protein, contains a significant amount of antioxidants and fiber, and to top it off, can be prepared in so many different ways.
4. Leafy greens
Leafy greens are extremely healthy and possess lots of health benefits. In particular, they are a great source of calcium which helps to facilitate muscle contraction during exercise, making your workout sessions more efficient. They also provide good amounts of fiber along with very low calorie counts.
5. Apples
Studies have proven that apples possess quite a number of impressive qualities for health. In particular, they will help you to achieve the well-defined abs you are going for because they have a high water and fiber content, which help you to stay feeling full and less likely to fill up on unhealthy foods.
These foods are not magic foods that will give you abs without you doing any exercise at all. The proper formula for speedy results is a combination of the right exercises and proper nutrition.
