5 Harmful Effects of Drinking Coca Cola and Pepsi

Coca-cola and Pepsi are drinks lots of people take every day or at least, on a regular basis. The magic of the fizz seems to have the power to soothe the nerves and refresh the body instantly. However, these products have been scrutinized and found to be unhealthy in so many ways, that it is astonishing that people still drink them.

To provide a “safer” options for people who simply must have their Coke or Pepsi, soda manufacturers have taken to the introduction of diet versions. These versions are claimed to have no added sugar and are supposedly helpful alternatives for people who are concerned about their weight. However, this is not the truth, and no soda is really safe and healthy for consumption.

Here are some of the harmful effects of consuming these beverages:

1. Kidney failure

Artificial sweeteners have been linked to an increased risk of kidney failure and all soda drinks contain this artificial sweeteners.

2. Caffeine, sugar and aspartame

These products are invariably present within the sweetened soda. Aspartame causes so many diseases that it is completely unsafe for children to drink anything that contains it. Also, caffeine and sugar are very addictive leading to another set of diseases like diabetes, and a life-long habit of inducing caffeine in the body.

3. Obesity and diabetes

The main problem with soda is simply its high composition of artificial sugar which is simply unhealthy in so many ways, one of which is its propensity to lead to obesity. This fat is easily stored by the body as visceral fat in the belly.

4. Slower metabolism 

A glass of warm water can speed up your metabolic rate after a workout session, while a can of Coke or Pepsi may reduce the rate of your metabolism even though they taste so good. If you are trying to lose weight, what you want is a faster metabolic rate.

5. Bone and teeth damage

The pH level of these soft drinks is 3.2 which is quite high, which means these beverages are acidic and can dissolve bones and teeth very quickly.
