Continued from our previous post “Healthy Fruits For Your Consumption”, here are three more healthy, delicious fruits for you to try:
1. Pineapples
Pineapple contains fibre-like pectin which makes it chewy. They are used to improve respiratory health (they cure cold and cough). Pineapples contain about 86% water and help hydrate, moisten and nourish the skin. They also help improve acne and are a natural cure for cracked lips and feet because they are a natural exfoliating agent.
Even more, pineapples help to improve digestion because of their fiber content. They help improve bones and can be used to treat arthritis. They are rich in healthy vitamin C which helps support the immune system.
2. Apples
There are definitely many health benefits that prove the saying, “an apple a day keeps the doctor away”. Some of these benefit include their phytochemical and antioxidant content which helps reduce cancer risk. It prevents aging effects on the brain, and recent studies have proven that it is able to prevent the risk of Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s and other brain diseases. Apples are also rich in flavonoids so it reduces the risk of tumors and cancer.
Also, apples contains soluble fiber that helps in reducing blood sugar; a way of limiting the chances of diabetes. This also helps in controlling weight, improving bowel activities, helps prevent hemorrhoids and controls body weight. It is a detoxifying agent for the liver and helps prevent cataracts and other eye related diseases by its antioxidant properties.
3. Banana
Bananas are a fruit that are high in calories, and help to energize the body (good when you need to exercise). They are beneficial for improving heart function and are good for digestion. Unripe bananas contain resistant starch which is converted to sugar (glucose, sucrose and fructose) when it ripens.
Resistant starch is an indigestible carbohydrate that gives a sense of filling (helps fill the stomach) when bananas are consumed. Unripe bananas helps reduce the risk of diabetes (especially type II), because they increases the body’s sensitivity to insulin. They also contain many minerals (potassium, copper, magnesium, manganese etc.), that help improve kidney function.
