Berry Tofu Smoothie Recipe

Berries make for a great healthy snack and can even be used in savory dishes. Here is a short list of edible, powerful berries and their health benefits:

1. Blackberries

This berry is most definitely one of the world’s powerful foods. Blackberries are high in compounds that help to fight cancer. These are vitamins C & E and ellagic acid. It also contains pectin which lowers high levels of cholesterol.

2. Acai berries

Acai berries have been around for the longest while in the Amazon rain-forest but the world is now paying much attention to it. These berries are high in anthocyanins which is great for heart health and also lowers high levels of cholesterol.

3. Goji berries

Traditionally grown in the countries of Tibet and Nepal, the Goji berry is small but mighty. This potent berry is linked to sexual vitality, longevity and overall great health. This berry is high in amino acids, vitamins B1, B2, B6 and E, beta carotene and other necessary compounds.

4. What is tofu?

Also known as bean curd, is made from soy milk and has been a staple food of some Asian countries such as China and Japan for centuries. It is a healthy food and when made the right way, it is quite delicious and refreshing.

5. How to make the berry tofu smoothie?

In a blender, dump a cup of each of the berries mentioned above and 200 g of tofu. Blend till beautifully smooth. Refrigerate and enjoy as often as you want.
