Fleeing Bloated? These 8 Foods Could Be Causing Bloating

Bloating is when your belly feels swollen or enlarged after eating. It is usually caused by digestive problems.

The list of  foods that can cause bloating are:

1. Beans

Resistant starch is a type of non-digestible fiber naturally found in the outer shell of the bean. To ease bean-induced bloating, soak the dried legumes over the whole night. Hydrating them will break down some of the starch so less amount of it makes it way to your colon.

2. Onions

The carbs found in the onions are poorly absorbed and cause increased water content in the intestine which produce gas and bloating.

3. Watermelon

This is a natural process that sweet fruit has a very high level of fructose. About 30-40%of people can’t fully absorb fructose that leads to bloating, gas and sometimes diarrhea.

4. Yogurt

Some time yogurt does more harm than good, that’s because dairy products contain varying levels of sugar molecule lactose, which gets fermented in your body and creates gas, bubbles and bloating.

5. Cruciferous vegetables

Brussels sprouts, broccoli and cauliflower all contain a type of carbohydrate called raffinose. We don’t have the enzyme needed to break down raffinose, as it passes through the small intestine undigested.

When food enters the large intestine without being broken down first, it gets fermented by bacteria resulting in a buildup of gas in the colon which generates bloating and particularly smelly farts.

6. Chewing gum

Sugarless varieties of chewing gum typically contain sorbitol. A sugar alcohol notorious for causing digesting distress, chewing gums always leads to ingestion of air causing accumulation of gas in the stomach.
