Is Regular Sex Important for Healthy Living?

What a question! Regular sex can be of high benefits to your overall health. There have even been common phrases such as “an orgasm a day keeps the doctor away” – this among many others is a positive indicator of the good effects of regular sex. Keep reading as I bring to light some of the most well-recognized and proven benefits of regular sex.

1. Relief from headaches

Yes, I was summarized as well when I saw it, but that is the truth, sex has the tendency to reduce headache. The explanation is simple: During a sexual intercourse, the hormones known as Oxytocin and endorphins are released, studies have indicated that the release of these hormones create a feel-good sensation in the brain that can ease pain. Headache should not be a reason to dodge away, it should even be the reason why to do it with your spouse.

2. Reduces stress

This is somehow similar to the former, but slightly different, as there are many contributing factors to stress. A study that was once published in the Psychology Journal revealed that “people who’d had sex in the last 24 hours coped better with stressful scenarios – such as public speaking – than those who had not.” The hormone called Cortisol is released during stressful experience, but studies have pointed out that cuddling, fondling and foreplay can greatly reduce your body’s level of this hormone.

3. It is great for your heart

There is no better way to strengthen your heart than to have sexual intercourse with your spouse as often as can be. Dr. Ebanks have even been reported saying “sex is exercise that raises heart rate and blood flow”, in the journal of Epidemiology and Community Health.

4. Good sleep

Reports have proven that most couples fall into deep sleep after having a sexual intercourse, the explanation behind this according to Dr. Laura Berman (An American relationship therapist and sex educator) is that after reaching climax, a chemical known as Oxytocin is released, which significantly boosts your desire for a restful sleep.
