2 Reasons Why the Sun Is Good for Your Health

A number of us start twinkle, when the summer comes and it’s no surprise, a little Amount of sunlight can boost your mood and also prevents host of serious illnesses.

For so many years we have been told to cover up in the sun to cut the risk of getting skin cancer. But it seems now that a little bit of sunshine on your body is actually good for you,because it provides the vital vitamins and nutrients like Vitamin D.

Recent studies have shown that a sensible amount of sun will reduce your risk of of several cancers and so many other health conditions. And it is all thanks to vitamin D, which is made by our bodies, through the action of the UVB rays of the sun on your skin.

Vitamin D is essential for absorbing calcium which keeps our bones healthy and for protecting against serious chronic disease later on such as osteoporosis, type II diabetes, multiple sclerosis and common cancers.

You can also get vitamin D from your diet, for example oily fish, such as salmon and tuna, is a good source,  as it is in margarine, milk, eggs and fortified breakfast cereals. But most of us simply don’t eat healthily enough to get adequate amounts, leaving the sun as the primary source of this important vitamin.

Sunshine increases serotonin level, which is the body’s natural hormone. That is the reason, why we tend to feel happier and more energetic when the sun shines.

A recent British study has showed, that people in the UK are more like to die of heart disease in winter than in the summer which is believed to be due to the low levels of vitamin D.
