The shoulders are the major areas in a man’s body that should be worked on to make the body proportional and even bigger. This will make your everyday life relatively easier, as lifting heavy weights and performing certain movements eventually becomes a very easy thing to do. You also get reduced risk of injury, while you perform back and chest exercises and have lesser stressful workouts.
Here are some of the best ways you can bulk and broaden your shoulders.
1. Barbell upright row
To do this, grasp a barbell a little less than shoulder-width apart, with an overhand grip. With the bar close to your body, use the sides of your shoulder to lift it and pull it closer to your chin. Slowly lower the bar back down to the starting position. Repeat this procedure.
It is not always recommended to lift the bar above your chin, because you might end up getting hurt in the process.
2. Incline lateral raise
To do this, sit on an incline bench and grab a pair of dumbbells, keeping your arms down at your sides. Now, lift the dumbbells straight out, with your arms parallel to the floor and keep at it till you reach shoulder level. Lower back your arms and ensure you’re in control of the dumbbells throughout and repeat this procedure again.
3. Standing side raise + front raise superset
To do this, hold a dumbbell in one hand and stand upright with your knees slightly bent, while you lean forward. At this point, lift your upper arms out to your sides and keep at it, until your elbows are up to your shoulder height. Return to the starting position and repeat.
4. Front raises
Pick a couple of dumbbells and hold one in each hand, then stand upright, with the dumbbells in front of your thighs at arm length and your palms down, a few inches in front of your thighs. Now, lift your arms up in front of you, while you keep a slight bend in your elbows. As soon as you have your dumbbells reach shoulder-height, pause and then slowly bring the back to the original position. Repeat.
Explained above are four best ways to bulk and broaden your shoulders and if done consistently, there will be noticeable changes in the long run. It is very important that you take precautions, when doing any exercise at all in the gym. Always remember that contrary to popular beliefs, pain is not exactly a good thing in regards to body building. If you start feeling pain, stop what you’re doing and visit a Doctor immediately.
