Stretch marks are those off-color streaks or stripes formed on the skin as a result of switching of skin or weight changes. They are mostly spotted on the abdomen due to pregnancy or obesity. In dermatology, they are termed as striae. Their formation is due to hormonal changes related to pregnancy, hormonal replacement therapy and puberty.
It is very natural that every woman will develop stretch marks at some point of time in their lives, but even though it may be natural, they get really ugly most of the times. What them can you do about it? There are natural remedies for stretch marks at home. Here are some of those tips:
1. Sugar
Sugar is used as a natural exfoliant for skin. It is one of the best home remedies to get rid of stretch marks. Take a tablespoon of sugar and then add some drops of almond oil and lemon juice in it. Stir this combination well and apply it directly on the stretch marks. Rub it for 8-10 minutes and then take a shower. Use this for a month or more until the stretch marks completely fade out.
2. Water
Water carries oxygen and nutrients to all parts of the body, and you should drink a lot of water to prevent the skin from developing various problems. A well hydrated skin is required to get rid of stretch marks this aids detoxification of the skin pores. It is the quickest remedy to heal stretch marks. So drink 10 glasses of water daily to make skin soft and maintain a hydrated body.
3. Apricots
Take 3 apricots and cut and remove their seeds. Grind them to form a paste, then apply the paste directly on the stretch marks. Leave it for about 20 minutes and rinse gently with lukewarm water.
4. Almond oil, lavender oil and chamomile oil
Prepare a mixture of vitamin rich oils by mixing two tablespoons of almond oil, half a teaspoon of lavender oil and half a teaspoon of chamomile oil. Stir the mixture well and apply it on the stretch marks.
5. Tea tree oil
Tea tree oil owns anti-viral, antibiotic and ant- inflammatory properties. It is effective for all types of skin problems. Simply take some tree oil and massage gently across the stretch marks.
