Ways to Get Rid of Skin Pigmentation

People, especially women, feel very particular about their skin. Skin pigmentation makes a lot of people uncomfortable and cause the to have low self esteem. Skin pigmentation comes when the special cells in the skin, responsible for making melanin, become unhealthy or damaged. Melanin is responsible for producing the color for our skin.

Some of these pigmentation just affects patches of the skin. Skin pigmentation can cause the skin to either get too dark or very light. When the melanin produced by the cells becomes too much, the skin becomes very dark. This can also be caused due to pregnancy and too much exposure to sunlight. A type of skin pigmentation known as vitiligo causes the skin to have patches of light skin.

1. Causes of skin pigmentation

When the skin is extremely exposed to sun or hormonal changes, it can trigger the skin cells responsible for producing melanin in the lower part of the epidermis, called melanocytes, to produce excessive amount of melanin. Pigmentation can also be caused by aging, when the distribution of melanocytes in the body becomes irregular and disorganized, thereby causing excessive coloring of the skin known as hyper pigmentation.

Skin pigmentation can also be caused by the grouping of pigments known as melanosomes, created by the cells, sending these small groups of pigments to the top layer of the skin from the dermis and thereby making pigmentation to be embedded.

2. Treatment for skin pigmentation

The treatment of skin pigmentation depends on the individual. Some changes in the life style of an individual can help cure skin pigmentation. Also, a visit to a dermatologist can help to get rid of skin pigmentation.
