Weight loss requires a lot of time, effort and determination. It is very possible to get frustrated along the line due to all you have to put up with. The process can either be lengthy or short, depending on your goal and the means you will use to achieve it. There are lots of challenges associated with weight loss that might make you give up in the long-run. Read further to understand some of them and the ways you can tackle them.
1. Less activity
Inability to engage in regular exercise is one of the most common challenges a lot of people face. As you get older, there would be certain changes in your body that might make it harder for you to lose as much weight as you did when you were younger. You may also feel more pain and aches that may give you more reason to stay in bed rather than engage in any physical activity. The only way to overcome this is to engage in more activities, but you don’t necessarily have to make a big deal out of it. Engage in frequent cardio exercises and you can even start from easier ones like brisk walking, jogging or swimming. This will help you shed extra pounds gradually and also boost your energy level to engage in other intensive activities.
2. Poor sleep
Poor sleep can lead to an increase in leptin and ghrelin which are two important hormones that control your appetite. This will make you crave more sweet and fatty foods and giving into your cravings will not do any good for your health. Sleep shouldn’t be only about length, but also about quality. A sound sleep through the night and minimal tossing and turning in bed are essential for a good night’s rest.
Ensure you turn off your gadgets about an hour before going to bed. If you still find it a little difficult to sleep despite keeping your gadgets away, you should consider walking around a little until you feel sleepy. You can also workout at least three hours to your bed time as studies have found physical activity to raise the body temperature and once it cools down, it prepares the body to sleep.
3. Ultra-sweet tooth
You have probably developed an ultra-sweet tooth that has made it difficult to let go of those candies and sweet meals. Excess sugar will only undermine your ability to lose weight. To tackle this, you need to reduce your daily sugar intake at all cost. You can incorporate fiber into your meals to help to break down sugar more easily. Also ensure you fill your diet with dark, leafy greens, brightly-colored vegetables and fruits, and lean meat.
These are common weight loss challenges faced by many individuals, but with the solutions provided, you can tackle them one at a time.
