5 Things you Can Do to Start your Weight Loss Journey

5-things-you-can-do-to-start-your-weight-loss-journey

The weight loss journey isn’t an easy one and neither is it a day or two journey. The thought of this alone is enough to cause one to throw in the towel and give up on losing weight at all. This is exactly why people tend to mismanage their overweight bodies, as they would rather do that than go through the stress that comes with weight loss.

Weight loss may require you to change your diet, get into a workout routine, or probably sign up at the gym. All these are enough reasons to say no, and it becomes even worse when we have to think of how busy the world is today, and squeezing in some time to keep fit may not be many people’s priority.

The fact, however, remains that keeping fit is very important and weight loss is encouraged, especially if your BMI already indicates that you are overweight or obese. Below are 5 things you can do to start your weight loss journey

#1. Get on the scale

This is the very first thing you should do before beginning the weight loss journey at all. It is very important that you know exactly how much you weigh before shedding all that fat. This will help greatly while you set your goals and plans on how to achieve them.

It may be scary to check it, especially if you have already developed a phobia due to the figures you see continuously on the scale, which doesn’t go down well with you. But then, the good news is that you may never have to see such large figures ever again! Great, isn’t it?

An additional tip to this is that you take pictures, for memories. You will want to look back and see how far you have come, and it will be a bit painful if you never captured any memory.

#2. Set your goals

Now that you know how much you weigh already, you should write down the number of pounds you will wish to have at the end of the journey and how you will maintain it. This helps to keep you focused, and even when you are down and less motivated, you will remember that you have a goal to catch up with.

#3. Go public

Talking about your body and your weight can be something of shame to you, but really, what matters now is that you have decided to take this bold step of losing weight, and you can’t do it on your own. There’s this thing about telling someone else or certain people you trust, about your fears.

Just let it, because if you keep it to yourself only, there is a tendency that you will give up somewhere along the line. On the other hand, if someone else knows about it, it keeps you accountable and you won’t just want to give up all of sudden, because someone out there is waiting to see your success. Step out of your fears already, and speak out!

#4. Get involved

Searching for information on the web or being accountable to someone isn’t enough. You need to get involved by signing up at a gym or enrolling for a yoga class. This is just to get you serious with your goals. Get involved with people who have similar goals as yours, just to keep yourself motivated that you are not alone and that there are people willing to get through the journey with you just as you are.

#5. Draw out a new diet plan

Now, this is where it gets tough. It is really not easy to let go your favorite meals all in the name of weight loss! But then, you don’t have a choice that to alter your diet, to get what you want. You will have to reduce how much you eat outside and get to eat your home-made meals! Cut less on fried foods, eat more of fruits and vegetables, and diets rich in fiber and proteins.

Good luck on your weight loss journey!
