Stamina is usually linked to eggs and meat and people are found to have the belief that foods that provide stamina are non-vegetarian. This notion is wrong however because there are many foods that are vegetarian which provide stamina. In fact, there are as much energetic vegetarians as there are non-vegetarians. Studies have even shown that some of the foods with high stamina-boosting foods are not meat, fish or even eggs, they are mostly vegetables. Here are some stamina-boosting foods that are non-vegetarian.
1. Banana
Banana is a fruit with fiber and simple fructose i.e. natural fruit sugars. It is an edible fruit and is botanically a berry produced by herbaceous genus Musa. The banana flesh contains starch which will energize you immediately after consumption. It also has potassium which is a valuable mineral as its function in your body is invaluable. The potassium aids maintain fluid levels in the body and regulates the nutrients and waste products in and out of your cells. In addition it helps to lower blood pressure and decrease your risk of having cancer or asthma.
2. Peanut butter
Peanut butter is made from parched groundnuts and is healthy for consumption because it contains omega-3 fatty acids. This is anti-inflammatory and helps protect your heart and prevent cardiovascular diseases. It also eases pain and gives you energy for a long period of time because it is slow in getting digested.
3. Beetroot
In its juice form it is nicknamed the “fatigue killer” and is low in fat but rich in Vitamins. It is taken from the taproot part of the beet plant. You can roast it to eat it or made into a soup also apart from being made into a juice. It is very healthy to have a glass of beetroot juice before you start your exercises, as it will energize you and cause you to extend your workout duration.
4. Oat meal
Oatmeal is a complex carbohydrate which is great for strengthening and energizing. It is a great breakfast and supper meal. In addition it keeps you full for a long time even as it energizes you.
Note that vegetarian foods that are high in stamina boosting qualities are vegetables which have antioxidants, fruits that have vitamins and complex carbohydrates that give you energy. Even plants that contain protein which will strengthen your muscles. As you eat a balanced diet containing these various things you will boost your stamina.
